Hebden Botanicals makes natural skincare in small batches. Every item it sends has a batch number and a best-before date, and you always ship the oldest date first. It's live, one serum batch is on quality hold, and a Christmas delivery is due at 14:00 today.
What's happened
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| 10 months ago | Priya opened the account. Martha, the founder, agreed the rules: ship oldest date first, and reject anything with under six months' shelf life. |
| 9½ months ago | The first delivery arrived. One product came in two layers that were scanned separately, and Stockist combined them into one line of stock. |
| 2 months ago | The Christmas delivery arrived with a collapsed pallet of soap. A carton of serum that wasn't on the order, and had already expired, came too. Both went to quarantine. |
| 8 weeks ago | Helen inspected the soap with Martha: 120 crushed bars were written off and 480 went into stock. The expired serum was destroyed. |
| 2½ weeks ago | A customer reported a problem with one serum batch. At Martha's request, Helen put the whole batch on hold. |
| This week | Martha invited a colleague, who hasn't accepted yet. A gift set delivery is due this afternoon. |
Try it yourself
- Open Inventory → Inventory Items and look at Hebden's stock. Every line has its batch and best-before date.
- Find serum batch ROSE-2503. It's quarantined. Open its history to see who held it, when and why.
- Find soap batch OAT-2508: 120 written off and 480 available, with the inspection notes.
- Open Inbound → Inbound Shipments → INB-000015. See how the damaged pallet and the expired, unexpected serum were recorded at the dock.
- Open Clients → Hebden Botanicals and look at People. Martha's pending invitation is there.
- Sign in as Martha (martha@hebdenbotanicals.example) and find the held batch from her side.
Why it matters to you
Batch and date control keeps you from shipping out-of-date or recalled stock. When a delivery arrives damaged or wrong, the record is made at the dock with the reason, so the conversation with your client and their supplier is short.
